OK, you're going to give this special person flowers...Now What?!?!?!???? Well, don't dispair here. There are some tried and true things to do and not to do when navigating these waters.
The first rule
You dont have to give her roses. Yes, roses are lovely, and, yes, the flower people have seemingly convinced everyone else that theres no other choice, but the fact is that since everyone believes this and gives them, theyre a bit too predictable. Giving roses simply makes you look like you just popped into the first flower shop you found and followed the advice of some clerk that tells guys what it is that women find romantic. But seriously, there are other flowers out there. And the truth is, most women prefer to get something more creative that looks like you put some thought or effort into your purchase.

The second rule
Unless your lady specifically tells you she loves them, skip overplayed flowers like carnations, chrysanthemums and gypsophila (a.k.a., babys breath). Unfortunately for these flowers, mass-produced arrangements have put them into the "last-minute effort" column. Back to Index
The third rule
When giving her flowers, get what she likes. Snoop around, ask, spy, or dare I say it..LISTEN! Find out what types of flowers shes soft for (most women have one or two varieties here) and jot them down on your business card, your PDA, etc. (you will probably forget the names). It doesnt really matter if she sees you secrely doing thisshell probably think its endearing and stilllove the arrangement just as much when she sees it. Back to Index
The fourth and final rule
Don't choose too much of the greenery. Arrangements with only a few flowers and an overwhelming amount of greenery and assorted filling (like ferns and babys breath) look cheap. try to keep things
simple, tasteful and elegant.
What if she doesnt have a favorite flower?
Now What? ...Get an arrangement in her favorite color or color combination. Still no luck? Then simply get something you like. With the help of a good florist, youll probably end up with something pretty neat. Back to Index
